This World Cafe event on Saturday will be our first deep dive into the convening question:
How can we organize a community that works together to maximize compassion, empowerment, agency and responsibility for the common good?
To help build organizing capacity, we’ll model a social technology designed for connection, dialogue, and action. World Cafe consists of facilitated, rotating small group dialogs to explore specific questions for sharing and reflection. The goal will be to build understanding and cohesion around key issues, needs, and opportunities affecting our community following the election. More information on the World Cafe methodology can be found here.
(The modified Open Space on Sunday will be much less structured by comparison and more focused on next steps towards action). Combined, the intent for these two events is to inform and catalyze further activities in the Salon over the rest of the month. In addition to connecting with potential collaborators, the Community Resilience Guild will provide access to the Salon and help with facilitation and promotion as needed.
Anyone is welcome to attend this free event, as long they maintain principles of mutual respect, compassion, civic engagement and social justice. Space is limited to 40 people on Saturday, so please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org. The events events are designed to complement each other, so attending both is encouraged, but not required.
Let us know if you have questions or would like to help out.
The Salon is located at 213 S Main St – enter from the west entrance on the parking lot off 3rd St, between the entrances to Better World Books and the Back Alley Brewery and Art House.
